"Quote of the Day"

"Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them if we basely entail hereditary bondage on them." --Thomas Jefferson

Capitalism -IS- The Horse That Got Us Here

You hear it said all the time in sports, "We plan to stick with what has gotten us this far", or "You need to ride the horse that got you here". This is generally sound advice. If you have been successful, then stick with that basic plan going forward. However, we all know that even when a successful team says they don't plan to change, that they are not stupid about their game. They have to react to the unique situations that arise.

And this is exactly where we are with HealthCare. Our current system is not perfect, but the US system is still the best that the world has to offer. So you don't fix our problems by abandoning all that makes us different, in favor of adopting the plans used by most the other countries on earth.

The bottom line is that Socialized Medicine will provide mediocre care FOR EVERYBODY. Mediocre is fine if you have nothing, but it is a step backwards for those of us who currently have the best that the world has to offer.

Generally speaking, our system of Private Capitalist Providers is what has worked in establishing the United States as the leading provider of virtually every service on earth. And, Thank God that, "being the best" this DOES NOT MEAN that these providers are perfect. This "imperfection" is why OPPORTUNITY continually exists within our country even after 233 years of existence. If anyone comes up with a better idea, that person will get to reap the reward of implementing a better plan.

This is why Capitalism works...because it is "self fixing" and not beholden to the current provider. Furthermore, I am not trapped in a social cast system based on my birth, such as India. Nor am I stuck with a single provider such as most of Socialist Europe suffers under. I have the opportunity to select the best provider, which may someday be me.

However, once the government Socializes a business sector, my opportunity as a Capitalist is gone, and so is the opportunity for continual improvement of that service. It is a well known fact that Government Bureaucracy is slow to change. Therefore, we will be stuck with their "initial thought" for years to come.

I want to be clear; I am not against ObamaCare because he is a Democrat. My opposition stems from a strong belief in the US Constitution and our Capitalist System.
