"Quote of the Day"

"Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them if we basely entail hereditary bondage on them." --Thomas Jefferson

Enter the Suffrage

Our world continues to descend into socialism and communism led by tyrants. Unlike the history from 1850 to 2000, the USA of that time is long gone. The historical context of the 1800’s is that the world had just exited from a basis of feudal society. In feudal time, your position in society was cast when you were born - nobility to the nobles, and peasants to the poor.

Then, along came Lady Liberty crying out, "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

The main idea behind the USA was that it was "The Land of Opportunity". Nothing was guaranteed, but every individual had the freedom to reap the benefits of their hard work. Immigrants flocked to our shores, eager to assimilate and pursue "The American Dream". We were a land without nobility of special privilege. Capitalism knew no favorites and dealt out opportunity with a fair hand. On top of that, we were a nation governed "of the people, by the people, and for the people".

Our Founding Fathers never wanted us governed by career politicians, but that is precisely where we are. They believed in a "light-handed" federal government; but that’s not what we have. They made us a Republic because they feared “mob rule”. Furthermore, they knew the risks of government handouts, as James Madison said, "Charity is no part of the legislative duty of the government."

Regardless of the wishes of our Founding Fathers, our government now bails out failing companies, and hands the propped up companies over to the Unions that brought these politicians into power. Government now dictates acceptable compensation levels for leaders of private companies. They force States to accept Stimulus Spending, and private banks to accept TARP funding. They threaten to tax privately contracted employee bonuses at 100% because they disagree with their distribution. Politicians stir up class envy by telling us that everybody deserves a home and healthcare. They establish lending rules that lead to our current housing disaster and economic collapse; and we are told to trust them with Healthcare, even though they have failed miserably with Social Security.

But all the blame cannot go to our politicians. Too many in our society have become lazy and covetous. They are too lazy to work hard for their own future; too lazy to study lessons of the past. But rest assured that they want the benefits of wealth without paying the price. Unwilling to put forth the effort necessary to achieve wealth, many choose to abandon the very system that has created the wealth; to abandon the system that provides them their opportunity. They tell Capitalism to “Go To Hell”; and instead of working hard, they elect unscrupulous men and women for the purpose of stealing that which they have been unable to earn.

Nobody should dare to blame the foundation of this country. Our Founding Fathers believed that liberty was a gift from our Creator, and they tried their best to impart on us a form of government which allowed Freedom. But what happens when a nation turns away from their Creator? I suggest that with a bit of patience, we are all going to see the answer to this question.

Nothing seems to bring about revival like old fashioned suffrage, and we had best brace ourselves for the onslaught.
